Stefan Baltensperger
Stefan Baltensperger was born in 1976 in Zurich, Switzerland. With his work Baltensperger essentially examines social and political concerns. Baltensperger introduces new questions to known and accepted systems, experiments with different materials, evokes new representations and works with different media such as Digital Media, Video and Installations.
The perception of structural changes in presents face build the background of his Artworks. Baltensperger produces multimedia installations, to investigate questions, surrounding the topic of the subjects self location in a global and urban society. Hereby, again and again he cross the borders between the context of the exhibition and public space.
His work has been exhibited extensively in Swiss and International museums and institutions.
Baltensperger + Siepert:
Zurich based artists Stefan Baltensperger (Switzerland, 1976) and David Siepert (Germany, 1983) have been collaborating since 2007. Baltensperger + Siepert’s artistic practice reflects critically upon social, cultural, and political issues. By immersing themselves in diverse systems, they aim to expose and manipulate them. Since 2010 the focus of their work has been on political matters and on developing an understanding of postcolonial structures.
Both Siepert and Baltensperger attended the University of Fine Arts Basel, and graduated from the Master of Fine Arts program at the Zurich University of the Arts.
