Kann ein Werk durch ein punktuelles Eintauchen, ein Kratzen an der Oberfläche, durch die Verheissung einer Sichtbarkeit, die sich bei genauerem Betrachten entzieht, einen alternativen Zugang erzeugen?
In dem Werk „Ein Singen im Kopf“ zeigt Stefan Baltensperger anstelle einer ästhetischen Umsetzung, die Summe von Recherchen und Gedanken in einer übergrossen Kartografie. Ein neuronales Gedankennetz, bestehend aus der Summe der Einzelteile, die zugleich aber nur fragmentale Zugänge erlaubt.
Für Baltensperger steht nicht das materielle Produkt im Zentrum seiner Arbeit. Der Künstler lässt in seinem überdimensionalen Mindmap Wissensmomente vor Ort entstehen und ermöglicht dem aktiven Betrachter diese, im Dialog mit dem Werk, selbst zu erleben und nachzuvollziehen.
Is it possible that a bit by bit immersion, a scratching at the surface, the promise of a revelation which dissolves upon closer examination, could offer a way of generating alternative connections?
Rather than taking an aesthetic approach in his work A Singing in the Head, Stefan Baltensperger shows us the sum of his thought and research in an overlarge cartography. We see a neural network which despite being the sum of its’ discrete parts, allows only fragmented access.
Material products are not central to Baltensperger’s work. The artist allows moments of knowledge and understanding to develop locally on his overdimensional mindmap, and an active observer may enter into a dialog with the work to experience and understand these moments for themselves.
