An interactive Light Sculpture for Public Spaces

“F-12” basiert auf einer genormten Plakatwand. Das Kunstobjekt entfremdet ihren Zweck, und macht sie sich zur eigenen Bühne. Anstelle der üblichen Werbebotschaft zieht ein Lichtspiel die Aufmerksamkeit auf sich. Lichtpunkte tanzen, blitzen auf und erlöschen, es entstehen Formen und Strukturen, die sich wieder auflösen und zu immer neuen Lichtgebilden verschmelzen. Tritt eine Person näher an das Objekt heran, reagieren die Lichter darauf. Ohne einem erkennbaren Zweck zu folgen, entsteht eine Interaktion – ein Spiel mit Bewegung und Licht.
Mit “F-12” untersuche ich die Beziehung zwischen dem Individuum und dessen urbanen Umgebung. Dabei folge ich der These, dass sich die Beziehung zu Personen, Objekten und Orten durch die Interaktion (Kommunikation) mit diesen definiere. Die interaktive Skulptur entfremdet das Medium der Werbung und provoziert eine kommunikative Interaktion mit den Betrachtenden.
“F-12″ is an interactive installation, designed to attract a short term public and by employing a poetic gesture analyse their relationship to their urban surroundings.
”F-12” is based on a standardised billboard. The art-piece adopts the traditional advertising space as a staging platform for itself. Instead of the expected advertising message, a light play made of 1,525 glowing white points attracts people‘s attention. Light points dance, flash on and off and form shapes and structures which continually merge into new figures.
The lights react to individuals who move closer to the object. With no discernible purpose an interchange is created – an interaction between movement and light.
