Stefan Baltensperger + David Siepert, 2010
Während eines Künstler – Kurator Gespräches wurde den beteiligten Personen Blut entnommen. Nach der Blutabnahme schütteten die Künstler das Blut aus zusammen und fertigten daraus eine Wurst.
“Blood was taken from the discussants during an Artist – Curator conversation. The artists then combined the collected gore and used it to manufacture a sausage.
Art, Culture and Other Sausages expands on a practice which Stefan Baltensperger and David Siepert have pursued over several years. Baltensperger and Siepert try to define the borders of art within society by deliberately orchestrating conversations with each other and third parties. The essence of these conversations often finds its’ way back into the artists work.
With Art, Culture and Other Sausages, Baltensperger and Siepert go further, and declare the art to be the conversation itself. Here the conversation is no longer part of the process leading to an artistic product, rather it is the product itself, manifested in the form of the blood sausage.
